Training for hairdressers
The Academy
The group's training organisation: cutting, colour theory, lightening and salon technique, in short sessions with very small groups.
Training
Learning the technique, not the theory.
The Academy is the group’s training organisation, born from Nomad Academy and now part of the KUST world. It trains professional hairdressers in what really matters behind the chair: cutting, colour theory, lightening, colour correction, diagnosis and salon technique.
Sessions are short, closely supervised and deliberately limited in size. Trainees work on mannequin heads and live models, with trainers who are still practising: these are hairdressers who teach, not teachers who talk about hairdressing.
What is covered
- Applied colour theory: reading a base, targeting a tone level, choosing a highlight, neutralising an unwanted lightening base.
- Lightening techniques: balayage, highlights, transitions to blonde, managing hair condition.
- Cutting and structure: building a shape that holds after the appointment.
- Profitability of technique: time, product quantity, pricing a colour service.
Courses can be funded by skills operators (OPCOs). The Academy is a certified organisation, which opens access to funding schemes.
Our conviction

Tomorrow’s hairdresser won’t just be technically skilled.
A professional setting up today must master their technique, but also know how to present themselves, build an image, hold a price, and hold their own against franchises. These are skills that are barely taught anywhere in the standard training path.
We believe that communication, marketing and design should have a place in hairdressing schools. In the meantime, we build a share of them into our own courses.
